Our deluxe two-bedroom apartment is on the fifth floor of an early 19th century building with an elevator. It has been restored to its original charm, complete with oak herringbone floors and original French double windows flooding the interior with sunlight and offering views of the rooftops of old Paris. The flat is in the very center of the Marais, surrounded by historic buildings and the galleries and cafes, boutiques, restaurants, chocolate shops and patisseries that now characterize the area. The charming Passage Saint-Avoye is just behind our building and one bedroom’s windows open onto it. In fact, with the Jewish Museum just opposite the gate at the end of the Passage, and with new galleries popping up on seemingly every street, this part of the Marais is fast becoming an art center for Paris. We are a short walk to the Seine or the Place de Vosges, near the Picasso Museum and both the Arts + Metiers and Pompidou museums as well, but our favorite is still the Carnavalet.
The decor, furnishings, and color scheme are traditional French but in every other detail, the apartment is thoroughly modern: full kitchen with new appliances (dishwasher, microwave, cooktop, full-size oven and refrigerator), remodeled bathroom with bathtub and American-style shower, an entirely separate WC, and a laundry room with modern washer and dryer. Modern amenities include a flat-screen TV, cable channels (with CNN), high-speed ethernet and wireless access.
Please Note: This is a non-smoking apartment.
The two bedrooms each have a queen-size bed and are at opposite ends of the apartment. This layout ensures optimal privacy making the flat perfect for families, friends, or two couples traveling together.
The apartment is beautifully appointed throughout with antique furniture, oak and mahogany armoires, and period lighting. High-quality linens as well as all cookware and dishes, even a rolling pin, are provided. And the internet phone allows free calls back to the U.S. and Canada, and to land lines elsewhere.
You will be greeted at the apartment upon arrival by our Paris liaison, who will give you the keys and show you all around the apartment. She is available to solve any emergencies should they arise.
